Follow the instructions of your carpet and adhesive manufacturer!
This method applies to Egalsoft underlay and carpet. Egalsoft has a self-adhesive underlay. This allows Egalsoft to be laid directly on the (dust-free and dry) base floor. Carpet glue is applied to Egalsoft. Then the carpet is laid.
Benefits
There are three methods to install carpet underlay:
1. tensioning technique
2. double-sided bonding (Double stick)
3. single-sided gluing (Single stick)
Always look at the installation advice of the carpet manufacturer.
Carpet slats are attached along the skirting boards, between which the underlay is laid. The carpet, strips of which may be welded together, is then installed in one piece and stretched onto the carpet slats using a tube tensioner and/or knee tensioner.
Advantages:
With this method, the underlay is glued to the surface (or possibly in an anti-slip adhesive) and the carpet is then glued to the underlay.
Benefits
When using carpet:
Do not use thick soft underlays with a high rolling resistance. We recommend using harder, stable underlays, which should be glued on both sides to improve rolling resistance. In addition, there is a risk that the carpet will run away due to the roller wheels. We recommend using, for example, our underlays Black Magic, Black Onyx, Elegance Black FR or Black Pearl.
When using vinyl:
Use Floorfixx Fini in combination with highly plasticizer-free, double-sided tape for floating vinyl. If you still want to glue vinyl, choose Floorfixx Smart.
When using PVC strips:
Glue PVC strips to Floorfixx Smart.
When using laminate:
Use a stable subfloor with high pressure resistance, such as Egalfloor, Woodstep and Silverstep. Do you also have to deal with the 10 dB noise requirement? Then choose Egalfloor 10dB.
When using PVC click strips:
Use Timberbase Plus. However, we do not recommend PVC click when using a wheelchair, because friction and local pressure are created when turning the wheels. It can damage the click connection.
Subfloors are made from many types of natural materials and plastics, with each type of material having certain advantages and disadvantages. Ultimately, several types of subfloors can be distinguished, with certain subfloors being usable for multiple types of floor coverings.
However, most underlays have been specifically developed to meet the specific requirements of one type of floor covering and are therefore not suitable for multiple types of floor covering. Check this carefully and do not simply combine without professional advice.
Basically, the following types of subfloors can be distinguished:

The choice of an underlay often has several reasons, but it is usually a necessity. Many types of floor coverings require a high-quality, flat, stable and permanently dry base floor.
Unfortunately, most basic floors in both private and project environments do not meet this strict requirement. At that time, a fixed (levelling) or a floating solution (floating subfloors or system floors) will be chosen. In many situations one simply cannot or may not work with a solid subfloor, such as rental situations.
In addition, a subfloor may also be necessary to meet a noise requirement or simply be advised to extend the lifespan of the floor covering. In many project situations, the motivation for choosing a subfloor is often the same.
A subfloor must also meet luxury standards. Particularly in textile floor coverings, choosing a good quality underlay provides an experience of comfort and luxury.
The advantages of an underlay at a glance:
Choosing the right underlay is a difficult task. The living situation, wishes and needs in particular influence the choice of the right underlay.
Consider a noise requirement from a VVE (owners' association) or a certain condition from a landlord, such as not being allowed to glue on the basic floor.
Make sure that this important information is known and taken into consideration when selecting an underlay. The right choice can have a major impact on your living comfort, in the form of improving the acoustics and possible nuisance to neighbors.
Always seek advice from a specialist and, if in doubt, always ask questions to avoid problems later.
